What a Day!

Eleanor celebrated her 2nd birthday on Saturday!
It's crazy to think our little (baby) girl is now into years-old rather than months-old! She's been showing signs of moving into little-girl-dom rather than baby-hood for a long time now, but somehow this birthday stuff really solidifies it.

We had a great couple of celebrations while trying to keep the day as low-key as possible. Seth is still studying away for his upcoming test and I've been battling more pregnancy related nausea stuff, so we decided we needed to keep things as "contained" as possible. Even so, I was totally overwhelmed by the end of the day! Ella had a wonderful time, however, so all our efforts were worth it.

We started the day with "cancakes" - in the shape of Mickey Mouse, of course. Cancakes or "awfuls" are our typical Saturday morning fare, so this wasn't too far off our normal routine. Eleanor was delighted to be the one to pick what we ate, however, and specifically asked for "normal cancakes... Mickey Mouse!"

Next on the birthday agenda was opening a couple of packages from the Tippin side of the family. Eleanor quickly got into the present opening. Here's the excitement of the gifts from Uncle Matt and Aunt Natasa (along with a few snapshots of our wonderful cupcake extravaganza - thanks Amanda!):

And soon after Matt and Natasa's gift was open, Ella was ready for the next package. Here are a few pictures from opening the one from her Grandparents Tippin:

I stopped taking pictures when all Ella wanted to do was try on more and more clothing items. She looked ridiculous, but was quite happy. :)

And then there was our evening... but not before much needed naps, studying and food preparations.

The "party" included face painting, lots and lots of giggling, opening presents, popping balloons and having dinner together. Of course, we also dug into those fantastic cupcakes pictured above. The girls had a blast together and all in all it was a success. Perhaps the best part for Eleanor, however, was getting her beloved "bike." She's been asking for a purple and blue bike for about a month now... and she actually got it!

Happy Birthday Big Girl! We love you lots and thank you for bringing a lot of joy into our household!

Way to go super Mom! Looks like you did a great job and it all went off without a hitch. Loved how you did all your pictures in this post too.
